Led by the Community: Building Dignified Mental Health & Psycho-Social Support for Migrant Domestic Workers in Lebanon
This white paper is published by the Lebanese Center for Civic Education (LCCE) on the occasion of International Migrants Day, as a moment to recognize the resilience, rights, and voices of migrant communities worldwide.
The paper highlights the importance of community-led, dignity-centered mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for migrant domestic workers in Lebanon, emphasizing inclusion, protection, and the centrality of lived experience in designing effective support systems.
It calls on policymakers, donors, and implementing partners to act urgently to mainstream dignity, inclusion, and community leadership within Lebanon’s MHPSS landscape. While tools and models already exist, the paper stresses the need for sustained commitment to scale, support, and institutionalize these approaches.
Mental health care must not be a privilege. For migrant domestic workers, it must be a right.
